International Fellowship

The iLEAP International Fellowship is a 3 month, intensive training program designed to strengthen and expand the leadership capacities of experienced social change leaders from Asia, Africa and Latin America. The program is organized around four central themes: Collaboration and Partnership, Leadership, Digital Media and Communication, and Sustainability. International Fellows collaborate with and learn from Seattle-based leaders and organizations in their field, fostering the development of deep relationships between program participants and the global development sector in Washington state.

  • For: Citizens of Africa, Asia and/or Latin America who are in a leadership role in a non-governmental organization or social business
  • Location: Seattle
  • Duration: 3 months. The 2011 Fellowship dates are September 12th to November 18th, 2011.

  Social Innovation Forum: JAPAN 

The Social Innovation Forum is a 10 day intensive training in personal leadership and global partnership.  The Social Innovation Forum: JAPAN is the first Social Innovation Forum and it was created in the wake of the March 11, 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. The Social Innovation Forum: JAPAN is an investment in rebuilding the country through energizing civil society, empowering emerging leaders, and forging global partnerships of mutual support between American and Japanese civil society.  More Social Innovation Forums--10 day intensive trainings aimed at energizing social business and civil society--will be offered to participants from other countries in the near future.

  • For: Social entrepreneurs, business leaders, nonprofit leaders, exemplary student leaders, and government officials
  • Location: Seattle
  • Duration: 10 days
  • Frequency: 2 times per year.  July 2011 Social Innovation Forum: JAPAN has been completed.  Next delegation from Japan is set for November 30th to December 10th, 2011 with subsequent delegations in April 2012, and October 2012.  Specific dates still to be determined for 2012 programs.

Social Innovation in Seattle

Social Innovation in Seattle (SIIS) is a 4 week educational program designed to introduce participants to the idea of social innovation and inspire greater clarity around one's personal leadership and vocation. The integrated currculum balances classroom learning with a professional internship and different site visits to Seattle-based businesses and organizations pursuing some degree of social innovation. SIIS participants also take part in individual advising and coaching sessions which serve to weave the experience together and make it uniquely relevant to his or her life. 

  • For: university students and the general public; for those not currently living in the United States, you must be coming from a country currently approved under the United States Department of State Visa Waiver Program
  • Location: Seattle
  • Duration: Short Course: 10 days or Full Course: 4 weeks
  • Frequency: 2 times per year (February-March and August-September)
iLEAP Outbound
iLEAP Outbound is a unique travel opportunity for residents of the United States and Canada to visit and work in partnership with a civil society organization in Asia, Africa and/or Latin America.  iLEAP Outbound guides you through the process of designing a project in collaboration with the host organization that utilizes your skills, engages your interests, and creates a stronger framework for mutual benefit. Through an integrated curriculum that gives equal weight to the pre-trip preparation, your experience abroad, and post-trip synthesis, iLEAP Outbound is designed to be pragmatic, conceptual, and transformational. Participation in iLEAP Outbound is for individuals, partners, small groups, and families--programs are flexible enough to connect to the needs of each. NOTE: WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR iLEAP OUTBOUND.
