Engaged English

Up one level

Engaged English (E2) is a program for non-native English speakers who are interested in improving their English language communication skills while, at the same time, gaining a better understanding of social enterprise, volunteerism, and philanthropy in the United States through professional internships in Seattle-based businesses with a socially-minded mission. In each program, iLEAP works with universities and organizations to design a customized program that meets the needs and interests of the participants. iLEAP is able to design E2 programs for as short as a few days or as long as a few months. Unlike typical intensive English language training, E2 takes a content-based approach that emphasizes civic engagement and getting students working with businesses and organizations that are interested in the 'triple bottom line' of people, the planet, and profits. Students who participate in E2 do not just have an international experience, but a transformative one that will last throughout their personal and professional lives. iLEAP handles everything from plane tickets to accomodations to visa, and all Engaged English programs take place in the beautiful and cosmopolitan city of Seattle, famous for its music and arts, scenic environment, and progressive politics.
